one step closer to farm, need sign orders

IF our seller will do a short land contract while we sell the other house we will get our land in Endor....if not back to looking. Still need you guys to share, share, share the website cause I really need sign/ hand painted orders, if he says yes I will have to carry two mortgages/payments for about 8 months.

another sign started, looking for shares, likes and orders

Started the next church sign and still trying to both build this sign shop and find a way to get our farm. We are trying a regular bank now....fsa says...we can't show on paper we'll make enough to make the payments without other jobs. Well hello yeah that's why we planned on working til we built it to that point. Heck even Amazon took 13 years to show a profit. If you read back on the blog you know I struggle. I can paint all these things, people tell me oh how pretty. Oh should do that for a living. Um...I'm trying. trying. I need orders, my website shared, people to tell people, then I will GET TO do it....for a living. I don't charge any more for this an hour:

Than your average house painter does to paint the wall white...or tan...$20 an hour. I work on tiles, wood boards, walls, even my own Jeep. I paint on canvas, I draw charcoals on paper.

$20 an hour - but I need 32 hours of work a week to not have to commute into an office. I need the office to convince the bank to let us have our farm and shop yes. I need that as well, I'm good at what I do here, have been doing it 14 years. But it's a dull colorless life full of office politics. We are trying so very hard, oh how I wish I had those extra points to be able to do a regular commercial loan on the farm. But I don't, so I sit at a desk...and do my work, and pray everyday please let us have our farm. And pray everyday please let there be a customer base out there for me to make a living with.

How do you keep up hope when the people that are supposed to be helping you ... don't. 9 weeks into a 3-4 week program, she's on her 4th vacation in this time. Our seller is frustrated, we have all but lost hope, on something we've proven we can make the payments on. I do good sign work, but no orders there either, just the endless commute to a crappy office. Uggghhh Tis the season for what?

On every and anything other than how long FSA is taking on the farm loan. I welcome discussion and planning for your next hand painted sign. GIVEAWAY - feedback welcome

Ok so I decided after doing some research online that for every $40 spent on sign or art orders I'm going to put the customers name into a drawing for a prize. I'm thinking something like a $50 Visa/MC gift card so it can be mailed easily but welcome thoughts of my readers. I'm contemplating running the campaign for the length of January, drawing name Feb 1st and mailing out the card then. I've posted a couple of pics below of a typical $40 or more order to give you an idea ...and have you thinking of ideas to ask about. General quotes (without in depth sketches required) are free.

another day, another week of office work

Week eight the USDA, FSA.... we was first told 3-4 weeks, then 4-6 weeks, we are on week eight...of six. Ummmm ya. So here I sit starting my Monday at the j.o.b. in the office looking to connect with people who want something unique to put out front in their home, office or business. Waiting also to get my shop, our barn for the goats, cows, bunnies and chickens - our farm to grow heirlooms. Put the site out there...you know someone you know you do that would like a hand painted name sign on their cabin...a cute quote for their office, a new sign for the dairy, barber shop, farm, mechanic shop, etc.

the weekend is almost here

I won't get painting done today as we'll be off and about for my husbands birthday but I soooo very much welcome emails, chats, blog post, discussion of projects for you the readers of this to get some cool signs out there be it for home, office or business. I know there is a market I just have to find it, I know there are people out there that want original hand painted sign work. Enough to sustain me and my bills, to get me out of the office. For those of you that are math oriented like myself here's the numbers....

30 hours a week of sign work, at $20 an hour for 5 years....would pay for the farm we want to buy and build into a NON-GMO, all heirloom fruit and veggie as well as beef cattle, dairy goats, egg laying chickens, honey bees

Can I get a share, a send a friend, an order from each person reading this and a referral to one friend for an order? The ripple effect would give me those numbers.

good morning all

I'm gonna do my best to start the day out, at least weekdays with a note and a pic ...or two or three. I didn't work on the sign this morning as I worked on some Christmas shopping. I still have high hopes for both the farm and the sign shop, although my faith in FSA coming through has dwindled which has made me contact a couple of back up bank type places to see what they can do. Nope you won't find it at Walmart....

You won't find my art at Walmart....or Meijer.... or Target - mass producing isn't my goal. My goal is to reach folks out that that want old style. The way it used to be, when your business was advertising using a product from another business. A one person Mom n Pop type, not mass produced, printed off and sold by the millions. Do I want to make enough to pay the mortgage and bills....yes of course. I'm hoping those of you reading this blog will forward the site, show it to friends, family, the guy down the road that really could use a new sign for his/her business. The dairy farm, goat farm, rabbitry of your aunt, cousin, friend that would think it was way cool to have something out there unlike anyone else, because it's hand painted, designed with you to hopefully bring out what's individual. You can find any ol Holstein sign...but what about one that looks just like your favorite dairy animal...the one you had 17 years and gave you all those calves? Bake cakes and want someone to look at your sign and say HEY I saw that cake on your website...where did you find someone to put it on your sign?

light bulb.... yeah ok it's corny

I just came up with a way to look at the office life....it's a time out chair. Those of us that work in the office world know your stuck....for hours. Why because it's your job, my job, our job to do so. We've discussed many of us could be MORE efficient...if given a laptop and let to do....the work. But no that's not the office life, you have to be there, stuck - where they can "keep an eye" on you. Your doing the same work you would do, usually less efficiently because of the stress the environment, not the work, creates. Right. I've been in the office work almost 14 years, ready to let the sign shop TAKE OFF... It's cool stuff people, really it is, share it, buy it, enjoy it. Drop me a line and let's come up with something cool, something unique, something individual you can't buy at Wal-Mart.

She went on vacation.....again. The third one since we turned in our loan application Oct 23rd.....
