the ghost town

Walking around the office it feels like that...a ghost town, only a handful here and those of us that still have jobs are scraping the barrel for as-builts and work to do. Kinda scary - Anyone want a good reliable experienced draftsman? W2 contract, remote my own office, drop me a line if you want to hear more. I'm also an artist, charcoals, painting, simple or wall type mural work, I've airbrushed, done a couple logos a color book... We are working on building the farm to hopefully let the beef cows make the mortgage, but that is still a ways off, need a full time income still.

Where did the year go...

What a year, was blessed with our farm, have accumulated all kinds of critters over the year. Lost a lovely doe, gained two more, got our Disney princess cows :o (they came to us kinda spoiled and think they are royalty). Still on our quest to find remotework #CAD from home while we build up or a way to just pay off the #farm and be able to both stay home and work it like it should be. good morning y'all

I'm thankful for my farm, my husband, my cows...goats..chickens..ducks..rabbits and that even though it's an annoying job...my job for allowing me to pay for it all.

I will still continue my quest for paying off the farm, for flex schedule remote work, for working my way out of work...to work, the farm. But I'd just like to to start today out being thankful I have the farm to go home to after stressful days and fighting traffic.

sick fever cough, have to be at work but there is no work

So I'm going to write I guess. We got our new pics, chickens and calves home, day one of the 102 deg fever, today is day four but it's down to 100. Everyone at work is all oh why did you come, same reason I come everyday, bills. I have to pay them. No sick,personal or vacation time for us "contractors" means I get to come share the virus with em. They think I shouldn't come in sick, give me a way not to. I'd happily be home on the couch with my afgan, I would. But unless someone randomly picks up a bill, how? I haven't found a way to earn a real income from my house, and I'm not working for new nails, a hair cut or boots. I'm working for utilities, insurance and mortgage. Yes I'm still looking for remote work, CAD drafting, something to do with my art work. But today...today I'm just here at my desk, sick. I will do all I can, all they give me anyway but as far as promoting myself as available as a remote designer, well the pounding head says nah.

 I can do a variety of things...when I'm well lol.

and then they make fun that I'm not working...my engineer didn't give me any work, you dorks aren't working either your talking...about me not working....sigh. I need the farm paid off, just flat out paid off so I can build it up without also having to come up with that mortgage payment.

office politics..

From one book excerpt I read. The question is why. Why must I play the game. It's tiring, the guy that does the job best isn't the one that gets the job, the one that plays the politics best does. And they the guy that didn't get the job, has to fix the job, cause the guy that "won" it...doesn't know what they are doing.

 And we go around and around again, I just want to do what I'm good at, drawing, drafting, cad until my farm can pay for itself. I'm a good draftsman, I know the programs I can follow directions. I can do red lines, heck I can mark em up. I just want to work. Just work....

Jill of trades but working on building an heirloom produce and beef farm so need that work to be remote. bored, left out of the meeting...again

Why do they not include the "contract" employees in meetings? We are going to be drafting it. We are going to be drawing, in the files. Why do we have such limited input and info given. It's like ah we are really employees anyway.

I'm also an experienced #CAD draftsman that could easily work remotely from my home office along with the farm for someone just needing design/autocad/microstation drafting. I can do it without the 2 1/2 hours on the road.

the chicken cabin

We got quite a bit done on the chicken cabin this weekend. Yeah I know, but look at the pics, it's a cabin lol. We tore down a barn and have been using the materials, and truth be told insulated and divided into rooms, it would make a super nice cabin. Barn beams for foundation into the ground as well as the floor frame, double layer of barn wood flooring. It's actually pretty darn nice! Added a couple pics of my new pretty girls as well, loving my fluffy eared cow. We are still working on working our way out of work...to work as well, so visit and share the site, order art, buy an original charcoal direct from artist. Garden season is over but we'll be back up and running next spring, got the materials to do our small greenhouse this weekend as well.

short vent engineers and draftsmen

Ok so here I am the "temp" "contract" - there are 5 of us here, no benefits, no holiday pay, no vacation time no personal days. Yes point in fact I would accept.....a REMOTE w2 contract that give me a flex schedule to work drafting along with working on the farm and garden. Back to vent...the "real" employee just erased our base that is xref'd into everything. And copied an old, wrong version back into the folder so "no one would notice" Hello, it was in the wrong place with the wrong info...I noticed.

because cows are cute

Today is slow as always but the week is over halfway done. I'm still on the quest to replace the commute and cubicle with a #remotework #CAD job so if you hear of one pass it on over. Still on the quest to figure out a way to just pay off the farm and not need that income.. I have lots of flower seeds for sale and have them listed at 50 cents each, packs of 10. If you don't want 10, or want more than 10, I'm just asking you mail me the payment and a SASE to ship them back to you first class snail mail. I can do signs, art, have original charcoals for sale if your a collector. Oh so many packed away doing no good to no one. Wish I could sell about 15 of them, heck that would pay for our barn we need.

sign work not mass produced

One of our goals is to build the sign shop, I did this sign for our church as we had a couple about a year ago say they stopped in but didn't see a time for service. The long time goers knew, but apparently there once was sign didn't exist anymore. So I painted this one, sealed to hold up against our Michigan winters and storms so people that may have wondered now know. Oh they meet at 9am.
