I'm not sure when I'll get it written up on the website but I'm going to do a self promotion, not through the raise funds sites that take their cut donation drive to try and get the land paid off and get a barn up for cows (we have room for a few but no where near barn space to finish out 2 a month for beef 1/4's).
coffee for cows -
send through paypal sportschick71@yahoo.com or cash to the farm (contact through twitter (https://twitter.com/katehagerartist) $1-$5 would be awesome, match what you would pay for that cup of coffee you stop for is all I'm asking cause in reality and mathmatically that could raise enough to pay off the land totally and get me out of the world of engineering...
pass on this blog.. with all you know to help get the donation drive out there. We grow 2 1/2 acres of fresh produce on this land and not having to work 40 hours outside of working it would make a world of difference in our garden/ farm markets and getting good food to people local grown.

new job less time to post
I think I got sent here to keep me busy while I look for a way to pay off farm and stay there working the land and animals. That is still the goal, if anyone wants to help drop on over, I only need 100,000 people to send me their coffee money for the day LMBO.

Happy New Year, eat well in 2017
We plug away at our goals of making the farm our income...or finding about 100,000 people that want to give their coffee money for the week so we can get it paid off and be able to actually STAY HOME and work it instead of working it outside of work.

art focus day
I'm thinking today should be an art focus day after fighting the snow, wind, drifts and idiots on the road it creates. If you know someone looking for art, a hand painted sign, a charcoal drawing or needs a remote CAD draftsman (of 15 years) to get me off the roads - send em over to http://katehagerartist.com

the problem with contract places for work
So we got like 9" of snow over the last 24 hours. Roads are crappy, all schools are closed, daycares, churches, etc. I've been on my job over 6 months, but through a contract place. We get no benefits, no paid vacation, no accrued time off, sick or personal, health, etc. Here us 5 contract employees sit at work. There are a couple other straglers....but most of the "real" employees...with benefits like we don't get...called in snow day yeah, can't make it out the driveway!!
And yet we....had to get up early, scrap, dig, fight our way out and in and risk lives...not because we are brand new and working towards benefits. Because we are "contract" - which is what almost every employer uses nowadays. There is a problem with that.
I could do my job just as well on a laptop...at my house, safe off the roads. I'm a draftsman, designer, 15 years experience. Why can't I find a firm that will let me work there, remote, flex schedule with benefits like a real employee??

winter hath arrived
Avoided the highway....cause I've been doing this enough years to know to. Everyone that first week of snow "forgets" - and the road isn't bad, but they do it every year, so back roads become out friend...well sometimes lol. Today I got behind that person doing 30...because there was snow on the ground. It wasn't slippery really, a teeny bit but no more than when it rains. But that white fluffy stuff just seems to bring it out. So here we go for another winter...unless I match numbers, find remote CAD work, or for some reason collectors decide my art work is the new in thing.....

store page updates for Art Signs Gifts Soap Lotion
I did some updates to the store page on the website - http://katehagerartist.com/store.html to try and get together the funds we need to make it through the winter months. With no produce to take to farm markets we are in the season we fight to keep grain in the barn as we slowly grow ourselves. We also have 3/4 of a beef up for sale if you are in Mid-Michigan and looking for beef grown the way grandpa used to...drop me a line. I have lots of art work that just sits and it's a shame as they are such pretty pieces that would go with any decor and can be shipped.
I do sign work, visual art, would like to do more murals but that would require not having to have a 40 hour a week j.o.b. to have the time to do it. I can do some cool stuff if I could find my market out there and how I would love to. I do CAD work, art work, signs, hand made lotions and soap, we have the beef, produce in summer (we acquired the materials to build a greenhouse but need the time to construct), rabbits, goats (dairy and meat) and of course our chickens and ducks
